Background and Discussion:

Project involves expansion of the existing wet bottom stormwater detention basin by excavating and disposing of about 160,000 cubic yards of soil thereby expanding the basin by about 48.60 acre-feet.  The Project also intends to add detention capacity by constructing a system to preemptively release water and lowering the water surface elevation in advance of major storms. It includes a 48” outfall pipe from the pond which will release water through a remotely operated plug valve powered by a solar charged battery.

Expected Impact:

This action will allow Solid Bridge Construction to proceed with the construction of the project, therefore, reducing the flood risk of the community in the watershed.

Alternative Options:

If no action is taken, the construction of the project will not be completed, and the Cypress Park detention pond will continue for function under existent conditions.
