Background and Discussion:
Precinct 3 issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for civic art projects in Barrett (at Riley Chambers Park) and Highlands (at Highlands Park). The scope of work for this RFP involves artistic playground improvements at both parks, including new play surfaces and musical play equipment. Custom playground surfaces and the addition of musical play equipment will elevate the parks’ civic presence by integrating art with play and foster community identity through inclusive, multi-sensory experiences that complement the existing playground.
Expected Impact:
This contract award will result in the installation of artistic site improvements at Riley Chambers Park and Highlands Park, enhancing the visual character and recreational experience of each park while promoting community engagement, outdoor activity, and overall public health and wellness.
Alternative Options:
The alternative is to not install these civic art improvements and allow the parks to remain in their existing conditions, which would effectively result in forfeiture or reallocation of the civic art grant funds.
