Background and Discussion:

The Alief Forest South neighborhood has suffered numerous FEMA repetitive loss properties and widespread flooding during Hurricane Harvey. Approximately two‑thirds of roadway surfaces are in poor or worse condition, and sidewalks do not meet ADA or City IDM standards. Water lines were installed in the mid‑1980s require replacement and reconnection to nearby main. Sanitary sewer lines are also aging and require replacement.

Expected Impact:

These drainage improvements will protect 577 households, improve access and emergency response during storm events, and provide a 25‑year level of protection for the neighborhood. Reconstructed pavement will reduce vehicle wear and improve travel safety, while rebuilt sidewalks with ADA‑compliant ramps and upgraded streetlights will enhance multimodal access, visibility, and overall neighborhood safety.

Alternative Options:

There are no alternative options; if not approved, it may result in delays.
