Background and Discussion: Fertilizer, Grass Seed, Insecticide and Related Items for Harris County and the Harris County Flood Control District. The Facilities Maintenance Department utilizes several vendor contracts to supply materials needed for the operation of the District’s tree nursery.  The materials supplied in these contracts include planting containers, mulch, potting soil mixes, seed, fertilizer, pesticides, and irrigation supplies.  The tree species grown at the nursery are well adapted for planting on HCFCD property but not commercially available.  The nursery houses between 6,000 and 10,000 trees.

Expected Impact: Vendor contract will allow Flood Control to continue to purchase supplies for proper maintenance of the Tree Nursey that is used to supplement the tree planting program for difficult to source native tree species.

Alternative Options: Alternative options include, choosing to not renew the contract and attempting to find another vendor that offers the same needed supplies.
