Request Summary (Agenda Caption):
title
Request for approval to execute an Interlocal Agreement with the City of El Lago to construct improvements to residential roadways including full-depth pavement replacement, base rehabilitation, drainage coordination, traffic calming features, and safety improvements in and around school-access routes that serve Ed White Elementary School and all related appurtenances, UPIN 26102QEJ6C01, Precinct 2.
end
Background and Discussion:
The City of El Lago maintains approximately 10.15 miles of aging residential roadways requiring reconstruction due to structural and pavement deterioration. Conditions worsened following the WCID 50 flood mitigation project. Several roads provide access to Ed White Elementary School, where deteriorated pavement and increased traffic present safety concerns for motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists.
Expected Impact:
This project will improve infrastructure resiliency, traffic safety, and local mobility by rehabilitating approximately 2.0 miles of residential streets experiencing structural deterioration due to roadway age, traffic loading, and impacts from the prior WCID 50 flood mitigation project.
Alternative Options:
The alternative option for this proposal would be denial of this project which may have a negative impact for surrounding communities.
County Strategic Plan Goal: 2. Connect our community with safe, reliable, equitably distributed, and well-maintained infrastructure.
County Strategic Plan Objective: H: Improve the condition and resilience of County transportation, flood control, and other infrastructure.
