Background and Discussion:
The County executed an agreement for Professional Engineering Services with IDCUS Inc in 2023 and now seeks to amend the agreement for the second time. This amendment will facilitate the prime consultant to provide the additional design services needed for new drainage direction to utilize the City of Tomball masterplan basin. The general scope of this project consists of Hufsmith-Kohrville Road from 500' north of Holderrieth Road to Mahaffey Road, from existing 2-lane asphalt roadway to a 4-lane concrete curb and gutter boulevard, with 32' raised median, within a 100' ROW. The amendment is for $148,340.91 for the work to utilize the City of Tomball Basin. The current contract includes fees ($62,224.75) associated with the original scope of a new Harris County Basin. This fee will be reallocated towards the new fee and reduce the total funding code request to $86,224.75.
Expected Impact:
The approval of this amendment will allow the Prime consultant to provide the additional Engineering Services needed for the project. The completion of design and construction of the subject project will improve the existent traffic conditions for the community in the specified area.
Alternative Options:
The alternative is to move forward with the current drainage scope that will include acquiring, constructing and maintaining a separate basin for Harris County.
