Request Summary (Agenda Caption):
title
Request for approval of an agreement with The Murillo Company, in the amount of $500,000, to provide on-call materials engineering and testing services for various Flood Control District projects (Agreement No. 2026-64, Job No. 26/0032, Countywide, Justification for 0% MWBE Participation Goal: 0% - Non-Divisible).
end
Background and Discussion:
This agreement will provide on-call construction engineering and testing services for Flood Control District Construction projects in support of the 2018 Bond and Prop A Maintenance Programs. This agreement is one of the 18 vendors selected via RFSQ Job 26/0032. Ten of the 18 selected vendors are certified MWBE firms.
Expected Impact:
Materials engineering and testing services under this agreement will provide essential quality control and assurance, ensuring that soil and construction materials meet specified standards and performance criteria, ultimately leading to enhanced structural integrity and longevity while reducing risks and costs associated with earthen and material failures. This quality control and assurance will help ensure that flood risk reduction projects are constructed properly.
Alternative Options:
The alternative to approving this item would be to forego materials testing, which would result in lower quality projects, increasing the risk of system failures resulting in increased maintenance cost and elevated risk of flooding to the public.
