Background and Discussion:

The project scope entails the design and construction of an approximately 8 acre-ft wet-bottom stormwater detention basin at Braeswood Blvd and Frankway Drive on a City of Bellaire tract within the City of Houston jurisdiction. The proposed basin will contribute to flood risk reduction in the Braeswood Blvd corridor. The project entails design, construction, turnover and startup. The Flood Control District is coordinating with the City of Bellaire to acquire an easement to construct and maintain the project. The project is funded by left over FEMA grant from the adjacent Meyergrove Detention basin.

Expected Impact:

This project seeks to reduce street flooding risk in the Braeswood Blvd corridor along Brays Bayou (D100-00-00) within the Brays Bayou watershed.

Alternative Options:

The alternative to this item would be that the low bidder will not be accepted, which would result in increased delays to and possible cost increases for the development of additional detention volume capacity in the Addicks Reservoir.
