Background and Discussion:

The project is located in north Harris County in the Cypress Creek watershed, north of FM 1960, south of Cypress Creek, and east of Hardy Toll Road. The project area consists of approximately 84 acres of single-family residential homes. The existing system is a concrete curb and gutter and primarily drains into Briar Creek (K117-00-00). The scope of the project includes constructing a drainage swale and underlying storm sewer behind the commercial tract along FM 1960.

Expected Impact:

This project seeks to reduce flooding by assisting in the alleviation of structural flood damage to the community. This agreement is a step to reduce the financial, and physical burden flood damage places on homeowners and will reduce the financial impact of recovery costs to the surrounding neighborhoods and Harris County. The execution of this agreement will allow CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, LLC to relocate their low overhead electric lines and power poles.

Alternative Options:

The County could elect to fund the requested task or choose to reject it. However, if not approved, the project will not be constructed as designed.
