Background and Discussion:
Harris County has an existing signal on-call contract to install and modify traffic signal systems and related improvements.
Expected Impact:
Continual installation and modification of traffic signal systems and related improvements to improve the public safety and operation of the intersection.
Alternative Options:
Intersections are evaluated in accordance with the 2011 Texas Manual on Uniform Control Devices (TMUTCD), which takes into consideration traffic volume, crashes, pedestrian activity, and roadway network. Installation of a traffic signal at intersections that meet the required warrants and will improve the safety and operations of the intersection. One alternative option is to bid the traffic signal projects individually, which will add 3 to 9 months to the overall schedule.
