Background and Discussion:

The Pride in Business Celebration Luncheon and Awards is a professional development, networking, and recognition event that celebrates LGBTQ+ business leadership, entrepreneurship, and economic impact across the region. The event convenes business leaders, entrepreneurs, corporate partners, elected officials, and community stakeholders to recognize leadership excellence, strengthen professional networks, and support inclusive economic growth.

The 2026 Pride in Business Celebration marks the organization’s tenth anniversary and will be held on June 12, 2026, at the Hilton Americas-Houston Grand Ballroom. As one of the nation’s largest LGBTQ+ business events, the celebration is expected to attract more than 1,000 attendees and will feature an expanded program that includes an awards luncheon, networking opportunities, community engagement activities, and a post-event celebration.

The event will provide attendees with opportunities to connect with business and civic leaders, engage with organizations that support workforce development and entrepreneurship, and learn about resources that promote professional advancement, supplier diversity, and economic inclusion. Participants will also gain exposure to best practices and partnerships that strengthen business growth and leadership capacity across diverse communities.

Sponsorship of this event aligns with the County’s commitment to workforce development, small business growth, economic mobility, and inclusive community engagement. Participation will also provide visibility for County programs and services that support residents, entrepreneurs, working families, and historically underrepresented business communities.

Expected Impact:

•                     Enhance Workforce and Leadership Development: Provide attendees with professional development opportunities, networking connections, and leadership recognition that support career advancement and business growth.

•                     Support Small Business and Economic Opportunity: Strengthen opportunities for LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs, small businesses, and diverse suppliers through increased visibility and access to business development resources.

•                     Increase Community Engagement: Expand awareness of County programs and services by connecting directly with a broad and diverse audience of professionals, business owners, and community leaders.

•                     Promote Inclusive Economic Growth: Support efforts that foster equitable access to economic and professional opportunities for historically underrepresented communities.

Overall, sponsorship of the Pride in Business Celebration Luncheon and Awards is anticipated to contribute to long-term economic mobility, leadership development, business connectivity, and inclusive community advancement throughout the region.

Alternative Options:

The County would not participate in or support the event, resulting in a missed opportunity to engage with professionals, entrepreneurs, and community stakeholders. Additionally, the Court may choose to provide partial sponsorship, limiting the level of participation, visibility, and resource sharing at the event.
