Background and Discussion:

This is a joint project between the Flood Control District and the City of Houston to build 12 interconnecting storm water detention basins on the City of Houston property formerly known as the Inwood Forest Golf Course to address repetitive flooding in the area. Due to unforeseen site conditions, a contract change is needed to construct the project to meet the flood risk reduction objectives.

Expected Impact:

This change will allow the contractor to construct the project so that Harris County can realize intended flood risk reduction benefits as well as mitigate future City of Houston drainage projects in the area.

Alternative Options:

This is an active construction contract, so there are not many alternatives to approving a change order other than cancelling the contract which is not recommended as doing so would substantially delay the remaining work in the construction contract.
