Background and Discussion:

HCTRA was a part of the electric vehicle (EV) pilot project approved by Commissioners Court on May 10, 2022, to acquire EV’s and their charging infrastructure. Subsequently, HCTRA’s locations were not included in the request approved by Commissioners Court on November 15, 2022 for the procurement of the installation of electric vehicle supply equipment.

In adherence to Harris County Climate Action Plan, for Clean Fleet and Commuting (Goal 3: Shift County Fleet to Zero - or Low- Emission Vehicles; Strategy 3.1: Implementing New Technologies to Retrofit Fleet and Use Less Fuel), HCTRA is investing in installation of EV charging infrastructure.  The installation of EV Charging Stations brings many benefits, to include environmental by reducing carbon footprint and improving air quality, economic with fuel cost savings, and operational by reducing maintenance costs and improving fleet efficiency.  By installing EV charging stations, HCTRA can demonstrate its commitment to sustainability, reduce operational costs, and contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment.

The selected firm will provide electric vehicle consulting services as well as installation of charging infrastructure and maintenance.
