Background and Discussion:

Harris County Public Health (HCPH) was designated as a Responsible Entity (RE) for the Immunization Program effective September 1, 2024, supporting the Texas Vaccines for Children (TVFC) and Adult Safety Net (ASN) programs. This renewal requests $750,000 for the period of September 1, 2026, through August 31, 2027, to continue HCPH's oversight of more than 200 healthcare providers participating in these programs throughout Harris County. HCPH ensures provider compliance with Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) requirements, oversees vaccine distribution, and promotes use of the Texas Immunization Registry (ImmTrac2), helping ensure children and adults have access to essential immunizations regardless of their ability to pay.

Expected Impact:

As a Responsible Entity, HCPH will continue strengthening the immunization infrastructure throughout Harris County by improving coordination of vaccine distribution and expanding access to immunization services, particularly among underserved populations. Continued support of this program will improve vaccination rates, reduce vaccine-preventable diseases, strengthen community health resilience, and advance health equity by increasing access to quality preventive healthcare services.
