Background and Discussion:
On April 23, 2024, Commissioners Court approved the advertisement of the first construction package which consists of four direct connectors (northbound/ westbound, northbound/eastbound, southbound/westbound, and southbound/eastbound), the widening of the westbound State Highway 225 mainlanes for entrance/exit ramp construction, and the reconstructing of the eastbound State Highway 225 frontage road to provide room for the direct connectors.
On August 6, 2024, Commissioners Court approved the request of a contract award on the basis of low bid to Zachry Construction Corporation in the amount of $205,382,077.47 for the construction of the first four direct connectors of the State Highway 225 / Sam Houston Tollway East Interchange Construction Project.
The proposed adjustments will replace / relocate existing CROWN CASTLE FIBER LLC, facilities that conflict with SH 225 / Sam Houston Tollway East Interchange Construction Project. The relocation includes the underground facilities.
After completion of the construction services, if the estimated cost is less than the estimated amount, CROWN CASTLE FIBER LLC, will refund or credit the difference. If actual cost of the construction services is more than the estimated cost, CROWN CASTLE FIBER LLC, will invoice the difference which would require a future Court action.
Expected Impact:
The Agreement allows CROWN CASTLE FIBER LLC, to expedite the underground and overhead line adjustments, minimizing the risk of construction delays for the Project.
