Background and Discussion:

COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted reproductive healthcare, disrupting access to services such as contraceptives, routine screenings, and family planning services due to healthcare shortages and precautions. In response, the Reproductive Healthcare Access Fund (RHAF) project aims to increase outreach, education, and direct utilization of reproductive healthcare services. This objective is achieved through supplemental funding to grassroots organizations that provide direct clinical reproductive health services in targeted areas and/or educate, promote, and connect Harris County community members to reproductive healthcare services within identified target areas.

Expected Impact:

Establish a comprehensive approach towards reproductive outreach and education to clients, community members, and leaders within Harris County. The subrecipient’s Outreach and Education plan consists of creating reproductive health education curriculum, developing educational materials, hosting community events, and maintaining partnerships to expand access. Community health workers will be fluent in several languages to translate materials and ensure accessibility with diverse community members. These activities will help refugee and immigrant populations to increase education about feminine hygiene, contraception, family planning, HIV/STD, cancer screening  utilization of reproductive healthcare services.
