Background and Discussion: At the Harris County Cypress Service Center (aka Cypress Camp), there are several structures which house maintenance equipment/materials for infrastructure throughout Precinct 3. During Beryl, a large tree fell on the existing covered equipment yard structure used for fleet services and housing equipment and materials, destroying it. The structure has since been demolished and removed as it was deemed unstable and unsafe, leaving the equipment exposed to the elements. It is crucial to replace the structure immediately as the fleet vehicles and service trucks have no protection from the elements.
Expected Impact: Create new covered parking for precinct vehicles and equipment. This request is for use the funds originally allocated to Add Alternate, and to use it as Owner’s Contingency for this project. Any funds which remain in the Owner Contingency funds will be credited to the County.
Alternative Options: If this Is not approved, then any changes requiring additional funds will have to go to court as a Change in Contract, thereby extending the construction period and may increase cost.
