title

Request by Public Health Services for approval to submit a required Resolution to the Office of the Governor/Criminal Justice Division as part of a grant application previously approved by Commissioners Court on February 27, 2024 for the FY 25 State Crisis Intervention Program.

Background and Discussion:

On February 27, 2024, Commissioners Court approved a request from Public Health Services to submit an application to the Office of the Governor's Criminal Justice Division for grant funding through the State Crisis Intervention Program. These funds, if awarded, would support the creation of a Peace Mobile Health Unit that would be managed by the Community Health and Violence Intervention Program. We are requesting the court's approval of a resolution required by the Office of the Governor in order for the application to be fully complete and receive further consideration.

Expected Impact:

Approving this resolution will allow us to be in compliance with the application requirements set by the Office of the Governor. If awarded, these funds will support the creation of a Peace Mobile Health Unit that would be managed by CHVPS, as well as a Peace Space in CHVPS' planned satellite location in the 77090 zip code. These spaces would provide wellness services and trauma-informed counseling to community members who have witnessed or experienced violence. In addition, these facilities would provide these residents with access to a computer lab, recording studio, and other audio-visual activities with the goal of deterring community violence.

Alternative Options:
