Background and Discussion:

Harris County Engineering Department has recommended 9 flood mitigation projects to be funded by the CDBG-MIT grant valued at approximately $150,000,000. Several of these projects will require federally procured design consultant services to effectively deliver the project.

Expected Impact:

Successful management of the CDBG-MIT funded projects with federally procured Professional Engineering Services is a step in the process to construct projects which seek to reduce flooding and strengthen resiliency in Harris County. Consultants sourced for Design Services will contribute to the reduction of the financial, physical, and emotional burden flood damage places on homeowners and will reduce the financial impact of recovery costs to homeowners, Harris County, and FEMA.

Alternative Options:

Alternative options are expected to be more costly or to risk efficient and timely project delivery.  Alternatives include no external consultants.
