Background and Discussion:
The Neighborhood Traffic Management Plan (NTMP) is an ongoing City of Houston - Houston Public Works program dedicated to improving safety and quality of life on residential streets. Established in the 1990s, it has evolved to better meet community needs and is currently governed by Article XV of Chapter 45 in the City of Houston’s Code of Ordinances. Speed cushions, a major traffic-calming tool in the City’s Infrastructure and Design Manual, are recommended for slowing traffic and supporting shared on-street bikeways.
Expected Impact:
Advancing these nine project areas will help Houston Public Works reduce the existing backlog while delivering needed speed-reduction improvements that enhance safety for all roadway users.
Alternative Options:
The alternative option for this proposal would be not to enter into the agreement and seek other options.
County Strategic Plan Goal: 2. Connect our community with safe, reliable, equitably distributed, and well-maintained infrastructure.
