Background and Discussion:

The E132-00-00 Mitigation project is located in Northwest Harris County in Precinct 3. More specifically, it lies to the Southwest intersection of N Eldridge Parkway and Cypress North Houston Road. E132-00-00 is a HCFCD drainage channel, a tributary of White Oak Bayou (E100-00-00) and serves as one of the outfall systems for the subdivisions of Bernadine Estates, Barwood, Tower Oaks and Tower Oaks Meadows. The scope of work for this project consists of channel improvements to accommodate increased conveyance due to the subdivision’s drainage Improvement projects.

The change in contract includes the following:

Quantity Adjustment: The line items are adjusted to reconcile overrun and underrun quantities on the project for completion of the proposed scope of work.

The increase of quantities on Remove & Dispose of Riprap for Channel Line-Item number 17 for an addition in the amount of $5,663.24.

The increase of quantities on 36 Inch Corrugated Metal pipe installation line-Item number 58 for an addition in the amount of $41,600.00.

New Line Items:

Added new line-Item number 82 “Type C Manhole” for an additional cost in the amount of $21,168.66.

Added new line-item number 84 “30-inch Corrugated Metal Pipe” for an additional cost in the amount of $17,202.80.

The above additions and deductions result in a net change in the amount of $85,634.70 and 3 calendar days.

Expected Impact:

This project seeks to reduce flooding and strengthen resiliency in Harris County by assisting in the alleviation of structural flood damage to homes in the E132-00-00 Mitigation subdivision.

Alternative Options:

The County could elect to fund the requested task or choose to reject it. However, if not approved, the contractor will not be able to complete the scope of work.
