Background and Discussion:

The project is located in northeast Harris County in the Cedar Bayou watershed, east of FM 2100 and south of FM 1960. The Forest Manor subdivision consists of roadside ditches and drains to HCFCD channel Q134-00-00. The proposed improvements are to regrade roadside ditches, install storm sewer beneath ditches and construct a detention pond near the outfall at Q134-00-00 that will be part of the HCFCD regional detention in the area. This amendment is required for design changes to the underground storm system and cross culverts.

Expected Impact:

This project seeks to reduce flooding and strengthen resiliency in Harris County by assisting in the alleviation of structural flood damage to homes in the Forest Manor community. The fiscal impact for this project will come from the 1080 Funding for the Recovery and Resiliency Division subdivision projects with the long-term goal of reducing drainage costs in the future. No impact on project schedule or staffing anticipated. This amendment will add an additional budget to the project.

Alternative Options:

The County could elect to fund the requested task or choose to reject it.  However, if not approved, the project may not be constructed as engineered. As a result, the community may continue to experience flood risk.
