Background and Discussion:

On September 14, 2021, Commissioners’ Court accepted the FEMA award totaling $1,736,267 with a required twenty-five percent match ($434,067). This is an Amendment to a grant award and should have no impact on the general fund of the county departments. This amendment extends the grant end date from 08/31/2024 to 08/31/2025.

Expected Impact:

The additional time will allow various departments to complete their projects. This award contains a total of

two (2) projects. No additional budget impact to Harris County is expected from the approval.

Alternative Options:

If the FEMA FY2021 Port Security grant is not extended, there is a risk funds will not be distributed before the

end of the current time of performance. COVID-19 has delayed projects that require these funds.
