Background and Discussion:
On June 6, 2023, Commissioners Court approved a list of potential CDBG-MIT projects under direct allocation to the Flood Control District. This approval authorized the Flood Control District to begin working on project applications for the approved project list. Upon application approvals by the Texas General Land Office, the projects are required to be formally added to the CDBG-MIT contract. Project applications for four of the eighteen MIT projects above the funding line have been reviewed and approved by the Texas General Land Office. GLO has requested that we amend the current contract to include those four projects so we can seek reimbursement on expenditures related to these projects. As additional applications are approved, the CDBG-MIT contract will be further amended to include those projects. In addition, $4,320,000 was added to the CDBG-MIT program award.
Expected Impact:
With the approval of these four projects, the Flood Control District can now seek reimbursement on expenditures related to the CDBG-DR program for these projects, as it relates to design, environmental, and grant administration activities. Approving this amendment also increases the CDBG-MIT program award, allowing the Flood Control District to fund more unmet needs.
Alternative Options:
The alternative is to not amend the contract and lose opportunities to seek reimbursement or meet spending milestones.
