Request by the Commissioner of Precinct 4 for approval of $272,727.00 from the FLEX Fund (1040) to the Houston Arts Alliance, for the implementation of a total of four (4) large murals in Gulfton and Sharpstown as part of the Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED) initiative otherwise known as PlaceMAKE P4.

Background and Discussion:
The CPTED Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design program aims to reduce violent crime through interventions in specific zip codes or census tracts with the highest rates of violence through the installation of art. Harris County Precinct 4 worked with community partners to identify opportunities for art through a formal planning process called PlaceMAKE P4. The murals will be completed with teams of artists to complete murals (more than 2,000 square feet across four locations) in the heart of the Gulfton and Sharpstown communities.
