Background and Discussion:

The detention expansion is in response to address homes being flooded in the Tax Day Flood and in Hurricane Harvey.

Expected Impact:

In response to those flood events, the districts developed a plan to expand the SWDB from a dry-bottom to a wet-bottom facility thereby increasing the capacity by as much as 200 acre-feet.

Alternative Options:

Failure to do this will result in further flooding in the community.

County Strategic Plan Goal:  2. Connect our community with safe, reliable, equitably distributed, and well-maintained infrastructure.

County Strategic Plan Objective: H: Improve the condition and resilience of County transportation, flood control, and other infrastructure.
