Background and Discussion:

The Sunbelt FWSD requires expansion of the Oakwilde WWTP to provide wastewater services to Westfield Estates.

Expected Impact:

The proposed wastewater treatment plant expansion would significantly improve environmental health and safety within the Westfield Estates subdivision, while increasing overall quality of life. Access to wastewater services has a potential to increase developments within the area.

Alternative Options:

The existing wastewater treatment plant at its current capacity is not able to provide wastewater services for the Westfield Estates area.  The alternative of not expanding the wastewater treatment plant would lead to continued bacterial contamination in the community. Grant funding is extremely limited, so if the ARPA funding is not allotted, the project will not proceed.
