Background and Discussion:

This is a request to approve right-of-way acquisition for stormwater detention in the Armand Bayou watershed. This is a partnership project with the City of Deer Park and is funded via an Interlocal Agreement (ILA), with the Flood Control District as the lead agency on this project. The City of Deer Park completed a preliminary engineering study (PER) for the College Park project. The project entails storm sewer system improvements and a detention basin to mitigate the increased flows from the project. The proposed right-of-way to be acquired is for the proposed stormwater detention basin.

Expected Impact:

This property will be used for stormwater detention needed to mitigate for increased flows from proposed storm sewer improvements in the College Park neighborhood. These improvements will address flooding in the area. The Flood Control District staff is managing the engineering consultant team to execute the design and construction stages of this project.

Alternative Options:

Not approving this item would result in not realizing the anticipated flood risk reduction benefits in partnership with the City of Deer Park.
