Background and Discussion:

On March 13, 2023, Harris County Commissioners Court approved an interlocal agreement with the University of Houston Institute for Research on Women, Gender & Sexuality (UH IRWGS) to administer the Rapid Assessment of Pandemic Impact on Development (RAPID) Survey. Over three years, UH-IRWGS, in collaboration with Harris County and Stanford University, conducted the RAPID Survey across Harris County, gathering data, and reporting on research findings. Program results were used to help direct the County’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) investments and inform regional early childhood strategy.

This final RAPID cumulative report encompassing research findings on familial challenges, experiences and navigation of social, cult encompasses research findings on familial challenges, experiences, economic impacts of COVID and other stressors on daily life in Harris County. The report serves as the conclusion of the RAPID Survey for Harris County and will provide vital and necessary insights into future investments and opportunities for the County.

Expected Impact:

Acceptance of the RAPID cumulative report will enable the Commissioners Court, stakeholders, and community members to gain insights and inform investments supporting the needs, desires and challenges of children with young families in Harris County.
