Background and Discussion:

Harris County Public Health Tuberculosis program provides treatment and testing for the patients that are diagnosed with active Tuberculosis disease and latent Tuberculosis infection. These services are provided regardless of a patient’s inability to pay for all patients living in the Harris County Jurisdiction.

Expected Impact:

Harris County Public Health Tuberculosis Program provides lifesaving medical services to patients diagnosed with active Tuberculosis and latent Tuberculosis infection. Tuberculosis treatment can last three months to two years. On a daily basis, this includes comprehensive medical case management and medical monitoring.

Alternative Options:

Without this grant award, Harris County Public Health Tuberculosis Program would lose 18 full time positions and an increase in Tuberculosis cases would happen in Harris County, Texas.
