Background and Discussion:

Harris County will install a hike/bike trail that provides access frontage land along the Buffalo Bayou which is 12.8 acres. The project involves demolition and cleans up, habitat restoration on the 1.62 acres of frontage property, site furnishings, and park signage. The trail will connect two parks; the Buffalo Bend Nature Park and existing frontage easement area located to the north and the Hildalgo Park located to the south. Buffalo Bend Nature Park is located at 2300 S. Sgt. Macario Garcia Dr, Houston, TX 77011 and Hidalgo Greenway Park is located at 7000 Avenue Q, Houston, TX 77011 in Harris County.

Expected Impact:

The project will enhance community connectivity by linking two parks with a bike and hike trial, providing increased recreational opportunities. Demolition, cleanup, and habitat restoration of 1.62 acres of frontage property will improve environmental quality. The addition of site furnishings and park signage will improve accessibility and promote public engagement with the natural environment.
