Request for approval to decree that the Harris County Flood Control District project serves a public purpose and public necessity, which requires that the Harris County Real Property Division be directed to acquire one fee simple tract for the public project known as Q130-00-00 Channel Improvement PER and Design, for the purpose of channel improvements and stormwater drainage improvement, authorizing eminent domain if necessary. Background and Discussion:
The purpose of acquisition will provide the Flood Control District property right to construction stormwater detention and access road for future maintenance.
Expected Impact:
The construction of stormwater detention at the location will reduce the flood hazard risk in the Q130-00-00 tributary of Cedar Bayou.
Alternative Options:
The alternative option would be not to pursue acquisition of this land. If this option is chosen, the existing flood hazard risk remains.
