Background and Discussion:
On September 19, 2023, Harris County Commissioners Court approved the allocation of $93,596.00 in General Funds, supplemented by $87,509.00 in Community Development Block Grant funds, bringing the total to $181,105. Additionally, Commissioners Court approved resolutions to provide grants to seven (7) eligible agencies for the Fiscal Year 2024 Texans Feeding Texans Home-Delivered Meal program.
On March 26, 2024, Harris County Commissioners Court approved a revision to the grant term on the Texans Feeding Texans County Resolutions to align with the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) project performance period of February 1, 2024, through January 31, 2025.
The seven (7) agencies are:
1. Bay Area Meals on Wheels in the amount of $1,954.
2. Baytown Meals on Wheels in the amount of $12,867.
3. Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center of Houston in the amount of $3,324.
4. Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston in the amount of $106,902, which includes $36,902 in General and $70,000 in CDBG funds.
5. Northwest Assistance Ministries in the amount of $45,043, which includes $27,534 in General and $17,509 in CDBG funds.
6. Precinct2gether, Inc. in the amount of $4,960.
7. Young Women’s Christian Association of Houston in the amount of $6,055.
Expected Impact:
Approval of the agreements will allow for the provision of nutritious meals to homebound persons (seniors and disabled) in Harris County. The total cost of the agreements is $181,105.00, of which $93,596.00 is funded with General Funds and $87,509.00 is funded with CDBG funds.
