Background and Discussion:

Harris County funds a portion of the Harris Center's annual operating budget from general fund revenue. The FY24 approved contract budget amount of $2,202,477.42 has to be amended to provide an additional $1,200,000 in funding needed to hire contract labor personnel to clear the backlogged court-ordered competency and sanity evaluations.

Expected Impact:

With the assistance of contract psychologists and psychiatrists, the reported backlog of court-ordered competency and sanity evaluations should be completely cleared by the end of FY24.
