Background and Discussion:
The request will allow Harris County to initiate both the study and design phase with Civitas Engineering Group, Inc. to provide professional engineering services for assessment and improvements at various intersections for existing traffic operation, pavement, and drainage conditions. Presently the existing intersections are unsignalized and do not have exclusive lanes for the turning vehicles. Additionally, the intersection corners are too narrow to accommodate larger vehicles such as school buses and trucks.
Expected Impact:
This project would expedite assessments of the existing traffic operations, roadway, and drainage conditions at each intersection; followed by developing improvement to address the safety, mobility, and capacity specific to each location to enhance traffic flow and provide smoother and safer travel for motorists.
Alternative Options:
If no action is taken, the safety and mobility benefits associated with the proposed improvements will not be achieved, thereby depriving residents and motorists of the enhancements these improvements are intended to provide.
