Background and Discussion:

Harris County Public Health has initiated an Invitation to Bid (ITB) to secure multiple vendors for medical supplies to address the past challenge of lacking a federally procured contract. This gap affected our ability to utilize federal funds efficiently for the Community Health and Wellness (CHW) Division. The CHW Division offers essential services, including wellness exams, immunizations, lead screening, dental health, Tuberculosis elimination, HIV/STD prevention, refugee health assessments and chronic disease management. This initiative aims to ensure a steady and reliable supply of medical items needed to support these services continuously.

Expected Impact:

Securing qualified vendors through the ITB will ensure reliable access to essential medical supplies, allowing for uninterrupted public health services. This process facilitates the effective utilization of multiple funding streams-including general funds, state and federal funds, and special revenue funds-and ensures a steady supply of necessary medical items. The selection of multiple vendors will enhance supply chain resilience, prevent shortages, and maintain high standards of public health services. This will improve the community's health outcomes and operational efficiency of our clinics.
