Request for approval to execute a Service Outlet Location (SOL) and Data Statement with CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, LLC for the future traffic signal and related electrical service at/near 18050 Westheimer Parkway, Houston, Texas for improvements associated with the Westheimer Parkway Public Safety Enhancements project, UPIN 23104MF2UE01, Precinct 4.
...end
Background and Discussion:
The Westheimer Parkway Public Safety Enhancements project includes pedestrian safety and accessibility improvements along Westheimer Parkway. The project includes a new signalized crossing/traffic signal infrastructure requiring permanent electrical service from CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, LLC.
CenterPoint Energy issued the attached Service Outlet Location and Data Statement dated May 5, 2026, identifying Harris County as the customer and listing the service address as 18050 Westheimer Parkway, Houston, Texas. The SOL identifies that CenterPoint construction is required and that the customer must coordinate installation of the meter pole or weather head, obtain applicable permits, and select a competitive retail electric provider prior to meter activation.
The SOL further notes that CenterPoint Energy will replace existing poles with taller poles to gain clearance for the future traffic signal and install a single-phase transformer for 120/240V service. Harris County will be required to comply with CenterPoint service standards, applicable National Electrical Code requirements, and other applicable local governing body requirements.
Expected Impact:
Approval of this request will allow Harris County to execute the CenterPoint Energy SOL and continue the utility coordination required for the Westheimer Parkway Public Safety Enhancements project. The electrical service is necessary to support the proposed traffic signal/safety improvements and help improve pedestrian safety, ADA accessibility, and overall public safety along the corridor.
Alternative Options:
No other recommended solutions for this identified need.
