Background and Discussion:
The project is located in the City of Houston limits and is a joint participation project with Buffalo Bayou Partnership. On January 4th, 2022, Commissioners court approved an Interlocal agreement with Buffalo Bayou for Study and Design of Navigation Boulevard from Lockwood Drive to Ssgt Macario Garcia Drive, based on that agreement, on February 8th of 2022 Scientech Engineers, Inc. was awarded a contract of $997,837.30 for Professional Engineering Services to provide a Corridor Study for Navigation Boulevard from Lockwood Drive to Mack Street.
Expected Impact:
Scientech Engineers Inc. will provide Design Phase services to develop bid documents outlining the proposed work to be constructed for the reconstruction of Navigation Boulevard. The project will convert one existing travel lane in each direction on Navigation Boulevard to be able to provide for a wider center median which will provide for a new 12 feet trail/bike path, median pedestrian lighting, landscaping, hardscaping, plazas, and pedestrian park like traffic. It will include the addition of new six (6) feet sidewalks on both the north and south side of Navigation Boulevard, new Signal at Mac Farland and Navigation, new Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon at Norwood, new accessibility ramps at all locations and partial augmentations to existing storm sewers and inlets to improve the drainage.
