Background and Discussion:
The project includes improving Telge and Grant Road Intersection approximately 600 feet on each approach. The proposed improvements include the addition of left turn lanes with 250-foot storage lengths on all approaches with drainage improvements/modifications. In addition, the existing asphalt pavement will be milled and overlayed within the project limits.
This change in contracts includes:
• Cost of culvert cleaning under the driveways ($8,212.55)
• Cost of ditch regrading along the grant road on east right of way ($54,528.00)
• Cost of clearing and grabbing of Faulkey Gulley on east side of Telge Rd to create positive drainage. ($12,354.24)
• Time for removing plastic pipe and replacing it with concrete pipe (10 days).
• Time due to delay in repair of sewer pipe which was under the project widening area in front of gas station in Grant Road (22 days).
• Cost of temporary pavement marking ($2,496.00).
• Time for removing of soft soils on Southeast corner of the intersection and replace it with suitable material. (6 days).
• The final adjustment (reconciliation of actual quantities used in construction against the bid quantities). Total = $43,100.81
Expected Impact:
This change in contact allows unused funds to be returned to Harris County and allows the Contractor to be compensated. This change in contract will also bring improvement in drainage system in project limit.
