Background and Discussion:

Harris County is eligible to receive a grant in the amount of $1,286,117 with no required match.  Grant funds will be used by the Sheriff’s Office to purchase equipment, such as computers, software, cameras, and safety gear, as well as for overtime costs and to provide training.  In keeping with historical precedent, 25% of the grant amount will be allocated to the Constables.

Expected Impact:

Grant funds will enable the Sheriff’s Office and the Constables to purchase needed law enforcement equipment and to work overtime hours to reduce case backlogs.
