Request Summary (Agenda Caption):
title
Request for approval to execute an interlocal agreement with the City of Houston in connection with the County's road improvements for Tanner Rd - from W. Sam Houston Pkwy N frontage to 350' East of Gessner Rd - 2022, UPIN 23103MF2QC01, Precinct 3.
end
Background and Discussion:
The objective of the project is to replace the existing 2-lane asphalt roadway with a 4-lane concrete boulevard and improve area mobility. The funding allocation between the City of Houston and Harris County is based upon the roadway length and storm water detention in each jurisdiction and the relocation of City of Houston water / wastewater lines to outside of the proposed pavement.
Expected Impact:
The outcome of the interlocal agreement will allow both Harris County and the City of Houston to partner on shared regional goals. The project will address current and future traffic volumes, reduce delays, and provide safe mobility for residents, pedestrians, and drivers.
Alternative Options:
An alternative to the interlocal agreement would be for Harris County and the City of Houston to construct the
roadway expansion and the required detention mitigation and water and sewer relocation independently,
which is not an optimal arrangement.
County Strategic Plan Goal: 2. Connect our community with safe, reliable, equitably distributed, and well-maintained infrastructure.
