Background and Discussion:

Traffic signals are re-built to improve the operation of an intersection and better facilitate pedestrian activities. The existing signals use outdated and degrading equipment and do not accommodate pedestrian crossings. Re-building these signals will ensure the two intersections are brought up to compliance with current standards and provide pedestrian connectivity.

Expected Impact:

Re-building the traffic signals will bring the infrastructure to current standards and specifications and reduce overall maintenance cost. It will also significantly reduce the risk of failure during a catastrophic event.

Alternative Options:

To continue to maintain the existing traffic signal and slowly replace degrading parts as they fail. This may

potentially be more costly and incurs a risk of failure due to aging infrastructure.

Alignment with Goal(s):

_ Justice and Safety

_ Economic Opportunity

_ Housing

_ Public Health
