Background and Discussion:

The extension of position funding will allow for the Healthy Start Initiative to continue to support Harris County families, provide direct support through integrated support services, and enhance the health and wellness of Harris County women, children, caregivers and fathers. The request for funding acceptance will help improve the lives of the community members served by increasing case management, care coordination, health education and accessibility to services.

Expected Impact:

Public Health Services will continue to support a comprehensive and person-centered strategy for delivering quality care and support to families to reduce infant mortality rates and improve perinatal health outcomes.

Alternative Options:

Alternate viewpoints may include concerns about long-term sustainability, cost-effectiveness, or measurable impact of the program. However, approval of this request will ensure that resources are leveraged effectively to maintain service continuity and meet the Healthy Start Initiative program’s objectives without interruption and continue to improve maternal and child health outcomes in Harris County.
