Background and Discussion:

DECON LLC will be responsible for delivering the concept design of a 6th bus shelter as requested by Precinct 4. DECON LLC will coordinate with and follow the Office of the County Engineering (OCE) and METRO's established standards and guidelines for the 250 shelter-ready locations across HCP4.

The Consultant will provide concept design for 6th new bus shelter, shelter furnishings, and amenities that comply with METRO design standards at up to 250 shelter-ready locations to be used across Precinct 4. The process and scope of services are:

Task 1: Project Management and Coordination - $5,950

Task 2: Preliminary Concept Design Presentation - $14,490

Task 3: Final Conceptual Design Presentation - $11,990

Optional Additional Services  - N/A

Expected Impact:

The project goal is to provide safe and resilient design options for Precinct 4 Bus Shelters. New bus shelters will provide riders with a safe and clean place to wait for bus service as well as enhance the visual appeal of the surrounding location.

Alternative Options:

Alternative options include installing standard bus shelters, which do not provide a comfortable experience in Houston’s climate or contribute to the visual appeal of the surrounding location. The County could choose not to fund the project. However, the project could not move forward.

County Strategic Plan Goal:  2. Connect our community with safe, reliable, equitably distributed, and well-maintained infrastructure.

County Strategic Plan Objective: G: Expand and optimize multimodal transportation options.
