Background and Discussion:

Funded through the Texas General Appropriations Act, Article I for Trusteed Programs within the Office of the Governor, the purpose of County Innovations to Prevent Commercial Sexual Exploitation program is to solicit applications from counties for innovative projects that prevent, investigate, and/or prosecute the commercial sexual exploitation of people in Texas.

Expected Impact:

If awarded, this grant would provide funds to buttress the Department's efforts to combat sex trafficking. Together with surrounding counties, the County will participate in a Gulf Coast Coalition Against Sexual Exploitation (GC CASE) that will handle cases region-wide and make available innovative tools such as mobile forensic units that include forensic interviewers available 24 hours a day/7 days a week.  Budget is requested for personnel as well as for grant-related operating needs.  There is no required match.
