Background and Discussion:
The project is located in northwest Harris County, north of Sam Houston Tollway, south of FM 1960, and east of SH 249. The project area consists of residential homes, elementary school, and industrial warehouses. Existing Bourgeois Road is a two-lane undivided asphalt roadway with drainage ditches on both sides. The proposed improvements will add raised medians and turn lanes with a curb and gutter pavement section. Sidewalks are proposed on both sides of the roadway. The service outlet location statement is needed to establish electrical service from CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, LLC to power the traffic signal.
Expected Impact:
Approval of the service outlet location statement will allow CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, LLC to provide electrical service to the traffic signal, which is needed to enhance operations at the intersection of Bourgeois Road at Hollister Street.
Alternative Options:
All traffic signals require a power source, which is typically obtained through CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, LLC. Alternative options are to place a generator, which is not reliable, or to not install traffic signals at the intersection. Both options will negatively impact operations and increase delay of the intersection.
