Background and Discussion:

Precinct 4 is collaborating with Church World Service (CWS) to provide free refugee health promotion programs at designated Precinct 4 community centers. Through this collaboration, CWS will deliver culturally responsive health and wellness programming designed to support refugee and immigrant populations residing in Harris County. The agreement term is twelve (12) months with two (2) one-year renewal options.

Program offerings may include health education sessions, psychosocial support groups, and physical health and wellness programs. CWS will provide qualified staff, facilitators, educational materials, and multilingual resources when available. The collaboration aims to improve health literacy, strengthen social support networks, and increase access to wellness-focused programming for vulnerable and underserved populations.

Expected Impact:

The Church World Service collaboration is expected to improve health outcomes and overall well-being among refugee and immigrant communities by providing accessible health education and support services in trusted community settings. Participants will gain valuable information related to physical health, mental wellness, and available community resources, helping them make informed decisions about their health and quality of life.

The initiative will also foster community engagement by creating opportunities for residents to connect with support networks, participate in wellness activities, and access educational resources tailored to their needs. Through coordinated outreach and program promotion, the collaboration will help increase awareness of available health services and strengthen community connections across Harris County.
