Background and Discussion:
The approval of this purchase will enable the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Mobile Command Post (MCP) to increase overall situational awareness and communication by replacing end-of-life equipment thereby expediting emergency response to terrorism incidents. The technology in the current MCP is outdated (13 years old), and upgrades are no longer available which can result in frequent performance problems that can be detrimental to operational coordination.
Expected Impact:
This project shall allow HCSO MCP to keep their communication technologies current. This project will upgrade the console system with three (3) independent back - room cores and provide one (1) dispatch console position. The cores and the console position shall provide enhanced radio capabilities and improved user interface. This shall also allow interoperability for operations from other agencies, the ability to step in and immediately be able to work for the HCSO platform.
