Background and Discussion:

For Mueschke road segment 8, Beazer Homes Texas Holdings, Inc. and GP 344, Ltd are the developers of a new housing development adjacent to the roadway. They require an exclusive left turn lane on Mueschke Road at the intersection of the future Holderrieth Road. The exclusive left turn lane will allow traffic safe and efficient entrance to the proposed development. Developers have requested the County to provide this exclusive left turn lane and have agreed to pay Harris County an amount of $178,000.00 to cover ALL related expense for the lane (engineering, construction, and supervision services).

Expected Impact:

Construction of the left turn lane as part of the current Mueschke Road project construction will serve and support the new development by providing the necessary roadway capacity, adequate storage, improved safety and efficiency for the traffic turning left towards the development.

Alternative Options:

The alternative option for this proposal would be to not construct the exclusive left turn lane which, will cause the traffic turning left towards the development to essentially stop and block the main travel lane on Mueschke Road, make the left turn in an unsafe and inefficient manner. This will not only be extremely unsafe, and inefficient but will also have a negative impact to the traffic flow in the area and the viability of the development being proposed and constructed.
