Background and Discussion:
Harris County and Harris Health entered into an interlocal agreement on _____, 2022 on a fee for services arrangement related to the delivery of medical services for detainees at the Harris County jail. This current agreement terminates on September 30, 2024. The parties have agreed to this extension of the agreement until December 31, 2024 and to specific changes regarding the financial obligations of both parties for the cost of care. The current cost for services provided by Harris Health has a $23 million liability under the terms of the contract. Under this amendment, Harris Health will provide the cost for those services as part of its existing non-compensated care program. This amendment also outlines the intention of both parties to develop a new ILA with Harris Health providing medical services and financial support for the all allowable costs through its existing tax structure.
